Hotel Costa Australis

Caring for Our Environment

We continuously innovate our operations in search of new and better ways to protect the environment around us. Since 2025, we have been part of the sustainable tourism certification program of SERNATUR, a distinction that recognizes the integration of responsible practices throughout our operations—from environmental stewardship and resource efficiency to employee well-being and meaningful engagement with our local community.

During their stay, guests can participate in and benefit from the following initiatives:

Purified Water Stations

We provide purified water dispensers and reusable containers for guest use, allowing visitors to enjoy fresh water within the hotel and refill their personal bottles before heading out on excursions.

As a result, we have eliminated the use of single-use plastic water bottles. In 2024, Hotel Costa Australis welcomed 43,483 guests. Had we continued our previous practice of providing two plastic bottles per guest, we would have used nearly 100,000 plastic bottles per year.

Digital Guest Experience

We offer a fully digital guest experience through tools such as QR codes, which provide access to dining information and our Digital Concierge platform. Guests can also find room guides, equipment instructions, activity recommendations, and local dining information digitally.

This initiative has significantly reduced our paper consumption.

Eco-Friendly Amenities

We use environmentally friendly, biodegradable products supplied in refillable dispensers to reduce plastic waste. This measure has eliminated the need for individual plastic amenity bottles, which previously amounted to approximately 15,000 units per year.

Led Lighting

We are committed to reducing energy consumption through our LED lighting system, which is integrated with the energy-saving controls available in each guest room.

This technology provides the same level of lighting efficiency while significantly lowering energy use, with a single LED bulb lasting up to ten times longer than a traditional bulb.

In-House Laundry

We manage the laundering of the hotel’s linens in our own laundry facilities, ensuring that bed linens are changed every three nights of stay, a practice that replaced our previous daily laundering routine.

In addition, we use biodegradable and environmentally friendly cleaning products whenever possible.

Promoting Bicycle Use

We are committed to encouraging the use of environmentally friendly transportation through our bicycles, which we offer to our guests as a green way to explore the city and its surroundings. This initiative allows visitors to discover the area while reducing their environmental impact.
