Selk’nam Sculture
The Hain Ceremony

The Selk’nam, also known as the Onas, were one of the Indigenous peoples of this region. They lived in the northern part of Tierra del Fuego. These pieces represent one of their most iconic traditions: the Hain ceremony, a powerful rite of passage in which young men were initiated into adulthood. The ritual involved striking body paint, theatrical performances, and the portrayal of spirits—reinforcing social roles and community values.

Ñirre

Nothofagus antarctica

Native to the temperate forests of Chile, the Ñirre grows from the Maule Region all the way to Magallanes. It adapts to a wide range of environments, tolerates extremely cold temperatures, and can survive long periods buried under snow. Together with the Lenga tree, it often marks the upper altitudinal limit of forest vegetation in the mountain areas.

This lifeless Ñirre was recovered and integrated into our interior design, as it forms part of the unique landscape of our region. It is adorned with "old man's beard", a lichen known for its long, grayish strands that hang from the branches like beards. This lichen grows on other plants—usually trees—without harming them, and is commonly found in the forests of Southern Patagonia.
